Democracy

"Prosperity through the will of many."

Government Overview

A Democracy is a deliberative assembly where elected citizens vote on planetary policy. Major resource allocation decisions, trade agreements, and diplomatic stances require council ratification — a slower process than an autocrat’s decree, but one that earns the loyalty of its population and the respect of its neighbors.

In Planetia, the economic dividend of Democracy is clear: citizens work harder when they believe in the system. Mines produce more. Diplomats negotiate faster. Democracies do not win wars by overwhelming force; they win by out-resourcing everyone until force becomes unnecessary.

Government Bonuses

BonusEffect
Economic dividend+15% income from all resource buildings
Diplomatic efficiency+10% alliance diplomacy speed
Market preference1.8% transaction fee (vs. 2% baseline)

Gameplay Implications

A Democracy’s +15% income bonus compounds across every mine on every planet. At tick 50 with 10 mines averaging L5, the bonus generates an extra 750M/tick over baseline — enough to fund a full Cruiser fleet every 20 ticks.

The diplomacy speed bonus resolves ceasefire negotiations in 5.4 ticks vs. the standard 6 ticks. This matters when a war declaration hits and you need to neutralize a secondary front fast.

Play Democracy if: you prefer economic superiority, alliance coordination, and winning through resource dominance rather than military aggression.

Avoid Democracy if: you want early military action — the income bonus does not arrive fast enough to fund a tick-12 Cruiser rush the way Dictatorship can.

Ideal Race Pairings

  • Catari: Catari’s +15% Metal and +10% Crystal income stacks additively with Democracy’s 15% dividend, creating the highest raw income rates in the game. Combined: +30% Metal, +25% Crystal over baseline.
  • Terran: Solid baseline choice. Democracy amplifies Terran’s well-rounded stats without creating any weakness.
