Available Calculators
Planetia provides three in-game calculators accessible from the Help menu:
| Calculator | Purpose | Access |
|---|---|---|
| Battle Calculator (bcalc) | Simulate combat before committing fleets | Help → Calculators → Battle |
| Resource Income | Project income at different mine levels | Help → Calculators → Resources |
| Travel Time | Calculate fleet arrival ticks | Help → Calculators → Travel |
Battle Calculator (bcalc)
The battle calculator simulates a full 3-round combat and shows projected ship losses for both sides.
How to Use bcalc
- Open Help → Calculators → Battle or navigate to the bcalc embed below
- Enter Attacker fleet: ship class counts, tech bonuses (% attack), and government bonus
- Enter Defender fleet: ship class counts, Planetary Shield level, Defense Platform DPS, and tech bonuses
- Click Run Simulation
- Read results: projected survivors on both sides, round-by-round damage breakdown, and outcome recommendation
Input Parameters
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Fighter count (attacker) | Number of Fighters in attacking fleet |
| Corvette count | Number of Corvettes |
| Frigate count | Number of Frigates |
| Destroyer count | Number of Destroyers |
| Cruiser count | Number of Cruisers |
| Battleship count | Number of Battleships |
| Attack tech bonus | Total % attack from researched tech nodes |
| Government attack bonus | 0% (most govts), +0% (all current govts have no direct attack bonus) |
| EMP active | Check if EMP ships in fleet (disables defender shield) |
| Defender fleet | Same fields for defending side |
| Planetary Shield level | 0–5 (adds 5% damage reduction per level) |
| Defense Platform DPS | Per-level DPS added each round |
Reading bcalc Output
- Attacker survivors: ships remaining after 3 rounds or defender elimination
- Defender survivors: 0 means attacker wins; >0 means defender holds
- Outcome: “Attacker wins”, “Defender holds”, or “Draw (3 rounds complete, both sides remain)”
- Efficiency rating: attacker cost vs. defender cost of ships destroyed — above 1.0 means the attack is worth it economically
bcalc Embed
Note: bcalc is pending deployment at
https://bcalc.planetia.org. The embed will appear here once available. Until then, use the standalone calculator at that URL or the manual formula in Combat & Mechanics.

Resource Income Calculator
Projects your empire’s income at any combination of mine levels.
How to Use
- Open Help → Calculators → Resources
- Enter the number of each mine type you have or plan to build at each level
- Enter your planet class modifiers (shown in planet intel reports)
- Select your race for the race income bonus
- Enter any applicable tech bonuses (Industrial Logistics, etc.)
- Click Calculate
Output shows: per-tick income by resource type, hours until storage cap at each income rate, and ROI ticks (ticks until a mine upgrade pays for itself in increased production).
Travel Time Calculator
Calculates exact fleet arrival tick for any distance.
How to Use
- Open Help → Calculators → Travel
- Enter distance in lightyears (visible on the Galaxy Map when hovering over a system)
- Select the slowest ship class in your fleet (fleet speed is limited by the slowest class)
- Enter fleet speed modifier (from Advanced Targeting tech: -5%)
- Click Calculate
Output shows: arrival tick at full speed and half speed, resource (Deuterium) cost at both speeds.
Quick Reference
At 1× round speed with no tech modifier:
| Ship class | Speed | LYs per tick |
|---|---|---|
| Fighter | 10 | 10 |
| Corvette | 9 | 9 |
| Frigate | 7 | 7 |
| Destroyer | 6 | 6 |
| Cruiser | 5 | 5 |
| Battleship | 3 | 3 |
At 2× round speed, all values double.
